Embrapa Swine and Poultry has been working on mapping the chicken genome. The objectives of this research line are to Create a poultry population specifically for estructural and functional genomic analysis, identify molecular markers and genomic regions associated with performance and quality traits in poultry, identify new genes in tissues of importance for meat production and quality, make available molecular markers which can be utilized to improve the efficiency of production and the quality of the final product of broilers, in benefit of the entire production chain, including the consumers and, Make available to the poultry industry molecular markers or genes to be used on early selection of animals with better productive performance and meat quality.
